Life after the KickStart Scheme

By Azekai Siapth- Marketing Assistant

The Kickstart scheme has come to an end, but my journey with Pareto has only just started.

If you had asked me 6 months ago if I thought I would be working within the Facilities Management sector, dividing my time between marketing at Pareto and being located at one of the largest Global Media companies I simply would not have believed you.

These past 6 months have been a setting example of what you can be and where you can end up if you push yourself out of your comfort zone and take that opportunity right in front of you.

I joined the Kickstart scheme during a time when I was taking a break from work to support my mental health. Assured by my work coach that Pareto was not like any other hiring company, I took the opportunity to jump back into work.

The Kickstart position allowed me to explore roles that I have always had an interest in but had never had access to due to my lack of experience and qualifications. Being a trans man I have always wanted to work within the ED&I sector as this necessary work feels close to home. I have been able to turn an interest into a passion, while still touching on other roles such as marketing and helpdesk admin, broadening my skill set for my future career.

If there is one thing that I can share with young people getting into or back into work, it would be to take that risk, step into something new, something that will challenge you and open your mind to new career opportunities because you never know where your skills and ability can take you!
