Press Release: Pareto Appointed at The Postal Museum

Pareto Appointed to Manage Hard FM Services at The Postal Museum

The Postal Museum has appointed Pareto FM to provide hard services at its newly built facility in Clerkenwell, London. Visitors to The Postal Museum can descend into the former engineering depot of Mail Rail and board a miniature train into the original tunnels deep below Royal Mail’s Mount Pleasant sorting office.

About The Postal Museum:

The Postal Museum in Clerkenwell reveals five centuries of British social and communications history as seen through the eyes of its iconic postal service. Alongside permanent exhibition galleries and a temporary exhibition space, Mail Rail – London’s secret Post Office Underground Railway. In 2017 it was opened to the public for the first time in its 100-year history and forms part of a subterranean ride through some of the original tunnels.

The museum itself has its origins in the early 20th century. In the basements of the GPO headquarters, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II officially opened the National Postal Museum in the City of London in 1969. Built partly to house an award-winning collection of British Victorian stamps – donated by Reginald Phillips in 1965 – the museum provided public access to its collections like never before. In 2004, the collections were transferred by Royal Mail to a newly formed independent charity, The Postal Heritage Trust. The new Postal Museum facility then opened in Autumn 2017.

Tish Jayanetti, Head of Operations & Commercial at The Postal Museum commented: “We were looking for a provider that could adapt to fit the specific needs of our organisation. We felt that Pareto FM were uniquely positioned against others in the market to deliver a bespoke service tailored to our way of working. We were impressed with their ability to truly embrace our culture, values and design a service provision to suit.”

Andrew Hulbert, Pareto FM MD added: “What a way to welcome in 2020! We are so excited to get moving on this project. How many contracts are there that have a fully functional subterranean ride running through them?! We are thrilled and humbled to have been granted this contract and look forward to progressing the service provision. This contract further cements Pareto’s position within both the Charity and Museum sector building on the current work with the Design Museum, London Zoo and Amnesty International.”
